I’ve got a problem with my CPU Overheating.
Right now it’s idling around 50-60C, which is about 10-20C cooler than it was idling at before (more on that later). It goes up to 70-80C when in heavy use, again anywhere between 10C-30C cooler. I’ve just installed a new heatsink and thermal paste (links to NewEgg, where I got them) into the system, and it’s cooled it a bit. Like 10-30C cooled, but this also could be attributed to it being freezing inside (and inside), so I don’t know how well it’ll do when it’s warmer out.
Problem is, that is still too hot. In all honesty, it doesn’t make sense to me. After I installed it, it was completely cold, and by the time I was loaded into BIOS my CPU was reading at 70C. Something is just WRONG with that, IMO. Could it be that my sensor is busted?
So far I’ve
- Reapplied thermal paste using Arctic Silver 5
- Installed a new, better heatsink & fan over the CPU
- Reinstalled BIOS
- Reinstalled CPU drivers
- Installed various CPU diangostic programs
PLEASE give me a helping hand if you can. I’ll probably just have to replace my system, which will cost around $250-300 in parts. I’m not very happy about that.
